Este tercer volumen contiene el resto del comentario al corpus paulinum, compuesto a finales del siglo IV por el Ambrosiaster, con lo que se completa una primicia dentro de la literatura patrística. Puntos culminantes de esta obra son la interpretación del incidente de Antioquía que enfrentó a los apóstoles Pedro y Pablo, respectivamente como primados de la evangelización a judíos y gentiles (Gálatas 2, 11-14), así como la explicación al anuncio de la segunda venida de Cristo al final de los tiempos, de la que se ocupa en el segundo capítulo de la segunda epístola a los Tesalonicenses. Pero no faltan otros temas interesantes, como los comentarios al himno cristológico de Filipenses 2, 5-11 y a las medidas de prudencia en el gobierno de su diócesis que el apóstol da a su discípulo Timoteo en los dos mensajes que le dirige. A través de esta obra se vislumbran las enormes tensiones sobre las que transcurrió la vida de la Iglesia de aquel tiempo, empeñada tanto en la tarea de afianzar su posición en el seno de la sociedad pagana, como de formular de un modo preciso y definitivo los dogmas trinitarios y cristológicos, a la vez que combatía las herejías que pululaban en su propio seno. XX, cuando se publicó la primera y hasta ahora última edición crítica de este texto, atribuida a un Pseudo-Agustín. El título de esta obra es Quaestiones veteris et novi Testamenti CXXVII. En la edición de la colección que compone el Corpus Scriptorum Ecclesiasticorum Latinorum (CSEL), sobre la que está hecha la traducción presente, e incluye también un Appendix continens alterius Editionis Quaestiones selectas. La primera parte contiene, como dice el título, ciento veintisiete cuestiones o capítulos. La segunda está compuesta por otras noventa y cinco, que no están incluidas en la primera recensión, de algunas de las cuales tampoco se conserva el texto, lo que suma otras sesenta y una en total. El autor da pistas tanto sobre la fecha como sobre el lugar de composición de esta obra: en torno a 370 en Roma. Es evidente que conoce la obra de Cicerón, Salustio, Virgilio, Tito Livio, Valerio Máximo y Justino, así como las recopilaciones de leyes que han llegado hasta nosotros como códigos. Por otra parte, ha leído y estudiado la Sagrada Escritura y hay citas indirectas pero claras de la obra de Ireneo, Tertuliano, Cipriano de Cartago, Victorino de Petau, Hilario de Poitiers y Eusebio de Vercelli. Lo más llamativo de su doctrina teológica es su insistencia en defender la divinidad del Espíritu Santo, un tema apasionadamente discutido en su época.
