Charles Michael "Chuck" Palahniuk (/ p l n k/;[1][2] born February 21, 1962) is an American novelist who describes his work as transgressional fiction. He has published 19 novels, three nonfiction books, two graphic novels, and two adult coloring books, as well as several short stories. His first published novel was Fight Club, which was adapted into a film of the same title. Palahniuk began writing fiction in his mid-30s. He started writing while attending workshops for writers that were hosted by Tom Spanbauer. Spanbauer largely inspired Palahniuk's minimalistic writing style. In what the author refers to as a minimalistic approach, his writings include a limited vocabulary and short sentences to mimic the way that an average person telling a story would speak. Repetitions of certain lines or phrases in the story narrative (what Palahniuk refers to as "choruses") are one of the characteristics of his writing style, being dispersed within most chapters of his novels. Palahniuk has said that there also are some choruses between novels, noting that the color cornflower blue and the city of Missoula, Montana appear in many of his novels. The characters in Palahniuk's stories break into philosophical asides (either by the narrator to the reader, or spoken to the narrator through dialogue), offering numerous theories and opinions, often misanthropic or absurdist in nature, on complex issues such as death, morality, childhood, parenthood, sexuality, and a deity. For fans, the book has "Expedition," which contains Palahniuk's first hin.

Quarter-bound in a shiny gloss black, separated by a beautiful, decorative gilt line, with mottled, matt black sides. This wonderful book is really good condition and as its a used book, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Corners worn and bumped, base of spine a tad and worn. Please see photos, but considering this book is probably over 120 years old, its still in remarkably nice order. 96 pages all intact, nice tight bindings. No published date, probably around the early part of the 1900's by The Illustrated London News and Sketch, Limited, with fourteen India Proof and Other Photogravures from pictures by major artists of that time. Tissue guards in place with all plates, some with the odd tear or two but overall in good order. Quarter-bound with matching corners in shiny black leather, separated by decorative gilt lines, the boards are a lighter shade of mottled black. No dust jacket. This stunning book is in very good condition, considering its age and use and as its a used item, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with age and use. Slight rubbing to boards, the odd mark here and there, but in all honesty this wonderful book is in really good order. 52 pages all intact and tight bindings. The illustrations which have been done by many prolific artists are so colourful, and most illustrations have their tissue guard paper in place. Pen and ink signature on inside board (Mrs Butler of Panteg House) dated 1902. An absolute, incredible record of the Coronation of King Edward VII and Queen Alexandra 1902, all very nicely documented and presented. A perfect record of a significant time in history, that deserves to be preserved for future generations.
