Classical India on the contrary perceives history to be merely the manifestation, with innumerable forms, of archetypes situated on a different level, and for this reason has taken no interest in memorizing the succession of material events. Instead of conceiving of time as linear and neutral, as the scientific vision does, India regards it as qualified and cyclical. Time can only be measured based on natural cycles, and as such it is logical that it adopt a cyclical form on all levels. One of these cycles is formed of the four eras (known in Greco-Roman antiquity as the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Iron ages) throughout which, while life becomes less simple, there is a progressive degeneration in the character of humanity. According to Hindu tradition, we find ourselves at present in the Kali Yuga, or "Age of conflicts", where the basest passions of men are dominant, to the detriment of virtue (dharma). Nevertheless, living in the Dark Age also has unexpected advantages.

Hardcover. Zustand: New. Lora Aragon (illustrator). The Mahabharata - the largest epic of India and of the entire world - is a fascinating story, brimming with action, drama, passions, and wisdom. It speaks to us about dharma, the correct way to live. Contained in its verses is the Bhagavad Gita, one of humanity's greatest and most profound spiritual teachings. Indica Books present here a wonderful comic version of the Mahabharata, which retells the epic in a comprehensive and accessible way, maintaining the main plotline intact. With beautiful artwork and well written dialogues, it is directed primarily towards young people and adults. Gol, the author of this comic, has succeeded in re-creating the environment and charactered that lived in the mythological India of five thousand years ago, when gods walked on earth. This adaptation follows the main plot, based on the enmity between the Pandava brothers and their wicked cousins, the Kauravas, through a series of thrilling and dramatic adventures which would lead to a devastating war involving all the kings of India, and would mark the end of an era. The author of the present comic, Miguel Gomez Andrea, known by his pen name Gol, is a Spanish cartoonist and scriptwriter, actor, and playwright.
