I like to list my books in thematic groups so as to make it possible for interested buyers to know I am offering them and find them easily. Of late, I have been offering lots and lots of books about railroads but am now going to change it up, significantly. Please find the first of a goodly number of illustrated children s books; this first one is titled: The Treasure Book of Best Stories, by Althea L. Clinton, with color illustrations by Eleanora Madsen and pen and ink illustrations by Fern Bisel Peat. This large but relatively slender hard cover book (10 x 12 inches, 92 pages) was published by the Saalfield Publishing Company of Akron, Ohio and New York, dated 1939. It is bound in colorful pictorial paper-covered boards with a red cloth quarter spine. Please see the photo of the Table of Contents for your further information. There are ten full-color, full-page color illustrations by Eleanora Madsen, the frontispiece and nine others and countless pen & ink drawings by Fern Bisel Peat. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are clean and bright with a few tiny blemishes and some flaking of the paper on the edges. There is a small white smudge across the black titles on the spine. Inside, the book is unmarked and the pages are clean and bright with a few minor exceptions starting on the front endpaper which has something smeared on the left-hand page. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
