unbound. Zustand: very good(+). American television personality, author, composer, musician and actor who achieved national fame as the first host of The Tonight Show; the first late-night television talk show. Excellent content T.L.S. "Steve", reminiscing about the early days on the Tonight Show. 4to. 1 page, personal letterhead, Van Nuys, California, February 21st 2000 Written just a few months before his death, to long time friend and collaborator Herb Sargent. The letter reads in full: "I'm hurrying to finish up a book manuscript, the first half of which will consist of jokes in the public domain and the second part of which is jut old monologues and sketches I've written over the years. Just now, as I was looking at one of them, I got to laughing aloud because the routine sounds in that marvelous, crazy style as some of the monologues you and Stan used to write for me back in the Tonight show days. As in the case of the Letters - To - The - Editor routines, we should imagine a drummer giving lots of rim-shots and the audience playing the part of the preacher's flock. Anyway - I thought you would get a kick out of it." Usual folds otherwise in very good (+) condition.
