"For the Purpose of Obtaining all Information Which Will be Valuable and Important, Especially to the Military Branch of the Government." Made under the Direction of General Nelson A. Miles, Commanding the Department of the Columbia" - Die in kurzer Zeit vollbrachte Reise unter der Leitung des Leutnants Henry Tureman Allen (1859-1930) von der südlichen Küstenregion Alaskas zur nordwestlich gelegenen Bering See zählt zu den erstaunlichen Forschungsreisen seiner Zeit. Zwei Jahre nach der Forschungsreise (die unter anderem zu späterem Kupferabbau führte) veröffentlichte Allen seinen Bericht, den vorliegenden Report of an Expedition to the Copper, Tanana, and Koyukuk River, in the Territory of Alaska, in the year 1885".
