Hardcover. Zustand: Good. 155 p. 25 cm. Cream vellum hardcover with gold impressing. Boards warped and lightly soiled. Front board separating at top. Worn bottom corners. Some spotting to endpapers. Shakespeare's sonnets translated into Latin. Alfred Thomas Barton (1840 - 1912), a Fellow of Pembroke College, Cambridge, devoted many years to translating the complete sonnets of Shakespeare into Latin hexameters and elegiac couplets. Some might ask if all his effort wasn't a bit misplaced but Barton's translation work was clearly a labour of love. Advertising for a portrait of this remarkable man is tucked in rear. Edition limited to only 150 copies of which this is no. 63.
