Consi…dered a lively account of his adventures, including "not only observations on the customs of the peoples he encountered, but also an oral history of Solima Yalunka back to the seventeenth century, useful to later historians" (ibid). The aquatint plates includes include images of the Solima and Koranko people never before encountered by Europeans. Includes 7*aquatint plates, some close-trimmed and 1*folding map. xii, 465pp. Modern half-calf over red cloth. Gilt lettering to spine. Endpapers have been renewed. Map and preliminary pages heavily foxed along with foxing to various pages. Other than foxing pages in very good order and text-block remains tight. Formerly held by the Christian Mission Society (CMS) Library with their ink-stamp to the title page and various pages and verso of the map.
