Piatti interni foderati con bella carta coeva marmorizzata. Tagli spruzzati. Antiche firme di appartenenza al front…espizio della seconda opera, cancellate a china in epoca storica e ancora in parte leggibili "Ex libris Josephi ". Firma alla fine del volume, forse autografa dell'autore, Alessandro Riccardi. Marca tipografica di Martello al frontespizio della seconda opera. All'inizio del secondo volume sono presenti due frontespizi. Il secondo frontespizio, senza la marca tipografica, non presenta la marca editoriale e nemmeno la dichiarazione di "Volume primo ." cosa che suggerisce che probabilmente, presa consapevolezza che non sarebbero usciti gli altri cinque libri, l'editore e l'autore, stavano pensando di far uscire il libro con un nuovo frontespizio. Al recto dei due frontespizi è presente la stessa scritta. Insieme di due rarissime prime edizioni di notevole importanza per il moderno diritto e per il territorio napoletano, composte da due dei più eminenti giureconsulti italiani dell'epoca. Le due opere vennero censurate e ne venne richiesto che venissero rintracciate e date alle fiamme, in tutti i territori controllati dalla Chiesa Cattolica e in quelli napoletani, durante l'occupazione della città partenopea da parte dell'esercito austriaco, guidato da colui che deteneva, in quel momento, in accordo con il papato, la carica di Vicerè, Wirich Philipp Lorenz von und zu Daun, principe di Teano. Dedica a Gaetano Argenti Consigliere del re nel Supremo Consiglio di Santa Chiara. La prima opera fu date alle stampe dal celebre filosofo, giurista, politico e noto anticurialista italiano, Costantino Grimaldi (Cava de' Tirreni, 30 gennaio 1667 Napoli, 16 ottobre 1750) che seguace di Cartesio, fece parte della famosa Accademia degli Investiganti che annoverava fra i suoi solidali, Giuseppe Valletta e Francesco D'Andrea. Insigne studioso di diritto, non trascurò mai le buone lettere. Autore di diversi scritti, sono da ricordare: "Lettere apologetiche in difesa della teologia scolastica e della filosofia peripatetica" uscita nel 1694 e che diede vita ad un ampio ed aspro dibattito pubblico con il gesuita Aleatino che a sua volta, attaccava le posizioni di forte critica ai principi aristotelici ed alla filosofia scolastica di Grimaldi e che vide, anche, l'intervento del Santo Uffizio; le "Considerazioni intorno alle rendite ecclesiastiche del Regno di Napoli" (Napoli 1708), appunto qui presentate; le "Discussioni istoriche teologiche e filosofiche" (Lucca 1725); infine il curioso trattato "Dissertazione sulle tre magie, naturale, artificiale e diabolica" (Roma 1751, uscito postumo per cura del di lui figlio). Nel 1708, Grimaldi é chiamato, direttamente dalla corte di Barcellona, su consiglio di Nicolò Caravita, a difendere gli editti regi in materia di benefici ecclesiastici nel Regno di Napoli contro la Curia romana. Dalla Treccani si legge: "La pretesa del re Carlo d'Asburgo, espressa negli editti, di conferire benefici ecclesiastici solo a regnicoli, contro la pretesa della Curia romana, venne dunque sostenuta dal G. nelle Considerazioni teologico-politiche fatte a pro degli editti di s. maestà cattolica intorno alle rendite ecclesiastiche del Regno di Napoli (I-II, Napoli 1708-09), che furono recensite nel IV supplemento degli Acta eruditorum del 1711 (pp. 369 s.). La risposta di Roma non si fece attendere: il 17 febbr. 1710 la Curia emanò una bolla che colpiva, con le opere di Alessandro Riccardi e Gaetano Argento, la prima parte del Trattato delle considerazioni teologico-politiche, mentre la seconda parte veniva raggiunta dalla censura neppure un mese dopo, il 24 marzo. Il G., che nel 1709 era stato nominato consigliere straordinario del tribunale di S. Chiara (diverrà ordinario il 28 febbraio dell'anno successiv.
