Albert Le Normand étude à lÉcole nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Lyon, où il entre en classe de principes le 10 octobre 1932. Il y étudie jusqu'en 19371. La même année, il étudie à l'école nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris pendant 9 mois. Il termine sa formation à l'Académie Julian. En 1938, il effectue son service militaire à Dijon, puis à Montpellier, au Moyen-Orient à Alger, à Alexandrie, à Haïfa, à Beyrouth, puis à Damas, puis Tripoli. En 1940, il adhère au groupe témoignage. Il fonde avec d'autres artistes l'Académie du Minotaure. En 1941 et 1942, il expose au Salon du Sud-Est. Entre 1956 et 1960, il est professeur à l'École nationale des beaux-arts de Nancy. En 1965, il est professeur de fresque à l'école d'art américain de Fontainebleau1. En 1966, il devient professeur de fresque à l'École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts de Paris et l'université Panthéon-Sorbonne. En 1967, il devient professeur de chromatologie à l'école Estienne. Il s'intéresse par la suite au mysticisme indien, pays où il effectue de nombreux voyages durant les années 1970, 1980 et 19903.
