In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Very Good. An apparent Geological Society offprint of an early Iraq Petroleum Company survey. Original pale blue Quarterly Journal wraps with the issue's full contents listed to the back, and white tape along the spine 14x22cm. pp121-152 with 5 figures in-text (a location map in the Gulf, a map of the Ruus al Jibal, and 3 sections) + Plates V-VIII including 8 b/w photos and a folding map. Wraps very good with some handling marks. Interiors near fine with creasing to the upper corner of the folding map. Very rare in this form. It was also issued as a Reprint in different wraps. This describes an area of foothills dominated by the 1450 metre high Jebel Hagab on the western front of the Oman Mountains and east of Ras al Khaimah. It is based on fieldwork led by Hudson for the Iraq Petroleum Company during Jan-Feb 1951 and Jan-Feb 1952. Other team members included McGugan, Morton, RV Browne, ZR Beydoun, and EA Shaw. Between them, they constructed a stratigraphical succession, sampled the formations, and made the 1/20K reconnaissance sketch map included here (pp121-123). They include a brief survey of previous work, noting that very little had been done until G.M. Lees (1928). Also included is the Discussion chaired Lees, who was then the Geological Society's President (p146ff).
