Abdelwahab. Por otro, se analizan las causas socioculturales y económicas que llevan a los grupos e individuos a adoptar, en nombre del islam, posturas radicales contra sistemas políticos, gobiernos, partidos e ideologías y, de forma particular, contra Occidente. De esta forma, se traza en estas páginas un recorrido completo que comienza destacando la influencia de determinados acontecimientos históricos y políticos en la consolidación de los sectores extremistas dentro del islam, para continuar con un estudio de la coyuntura sociopolítica del mundo arabomusulmán y su relación con Occidente. Por último, el repertorio de los grupos islamistas más importantes de la actualidad incluido al final de la obra permitirá al lector completar el complejo mosaico que constituye, hoy, el islam político contemporáneo.Waleed Saleh (Irak, 1951) es doctor en Estudios Arabes e Islámicos por la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid y licenciado en Filología Hispánica por la Universidad de Valencia. Autor de varios libros en lengua árabe y en español como Siglo y medio de teatro árabe (2000) y coautor de otros como Irak: un mar de mentiras (2003), Oriente Medio: el laberinto de Bagdad (2004), Irak: invasión, ocupación y caos (2005), ha traducido también al árabe varias obras de autores de lengua española como Gabriel García Márquez. En la actualidad es profesor titular del Dpto. de Estudios Arabes e Islámicos de la Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
