Featuring 30 hand tipped coloured plates with captioned guards, reproduced from paintings by Arthur Garratt and Eton portraits, including a frontispiece of King Henry VI. There is an inscription to the front free-endpaper reading: 'L.H. Vassall from A.C. Rayner-Wood. Eton. Dec 12th 1917'. A.C. Rayner-Wood appears to have been an Eton housemaster. He fought in the First World War, and was the author of 'Twenty Years After: The Letters of an Eton Housemaster' (published 1939). In a cloth binding, with a gilt Eton crest to each board.
