Esemplare del terzo stato di tre, recante l'indirizzo dell'editore Orazio Bertelli ed i versi su tre colonne, lungo il margine inferiore: "Cholor che uniti in charita perfetta/Menan qua giu vivendo. I giorni "el" hore/Fratelli in Christo, dalla sua diletta,/Madre, raccolti son con tanto amore.'' (secondo il Malvasia i versi furono composti dallo stesso A. Carracci. L'incisione deriva da un dipinto di Paolo Veronese, andato perduto, delle medesime dimensioni della lastra. Lo stile dell'opera e la sua affinità con quelle del periodo veneziano, dimostrano che fu eseguita da Agostino nel 1582, come conferma l'indicazione dell'editore Bertelli, attivo a Venezia. Bell'esemplare databile nell'ultimo quarto del XVI secolo, corto di margini, in buono stato di conservazione. Bartsch 102 S3. Book.

A naked man leaning on his arms seen from behind, a resurrecting figure from Michelangelo's 'Last Judgement'. On the bottom right a veiled woman. This detail was firstly copied by Agostino and then in the early nineteenth-century van Woensel copied the Bolognese impression. Monogrammed on the bottom right: "I.V.W.". Carracci collected drawings and reproductions of his own and other masters' works in albums for amateurs and young artists to copy from. Apparently also van Woensel still used the same pedagogic method, at least two centuries later. Etching on paper with margins, plate mark: 191 x 132 mm, total ca: 226 x 190 mm; in outstanding condition. The Hague, made between 1800-1850.

Print with a study of two hands breaking bread (?) a detail from another representation and a study of a naked foot in profile. Monogrammed on the bottom right: "I.H.V.W.". Possibly after Carracci's publication. The Carracci collected drawings and reproductions of his own and other masters' works in albums for amateurs and young artists to copy from. [1] f.e., [48], CCCLVII, [1], [1] r.e. Contemporary yapp binding in limp vellum, with a gilt double fillet border and foliate corner pieces to the boards; the smooth spine is divided by five double fillets enclosing four floral rosettes. Some expected rubbing to the edges and spine, particularly at head and foot. The title page bears a circular ink stamp ex-libris of Pasquale Oliva, 1976, and a second armorial ex-libris label of the Lamberti family with the motto "Cosa fatta capo ha"; a third ex-libris appears on the front pastedown, for Malesci, with the motto "Silendo volo", signed by the artist B. Bartoccini, 1990. A fresh, wide-margined, clean copy in excellent condition throughout. The best of Renaissance thinking in 151 emblems, with Parmigianino and Agostino Carracci's marks on the plates.
