Einer der schönsten Stahlstichbände über Berlin: Die "Nouvelle edition", die um einen "Catalogue des auteurs classiques allemands et de leur chef d'oeuvres" erweitert wurde und herauskam im Verlag des bedeutenden jüdischen Verlegers, Bibliographen, Buchhändlers und Antiquars Adolf Asher (1800-1853), der seinen Laden auf dem Boulevard "Unter den Linden" im Zentrum Berlins hatte - und vor allem seinen Ansichtenwerke bevorzugt in der damaligen "lingua franca", in französischer Sprache veröffentlichte.Die überaus feinen, sehr atmosphärischen Stiche wurdennach Vorlagen von Alfred G. Vickers (Thieme/Becker XXXIV, 328) in harte Stahlplatten graviert. Sie zeigen: Schloss Charlottenburg, das Neue Palais in Potsdam, den Schlosshof des Berliner Stadtschlosses, die Poststraße im Nikolaiviertel und die Nikolaikirche, ferner den neuen Packhof auf der Museumsinsel und die Oper mit Schinkels Neuer Wache "Unter den Linden". Der hervorragend detailliert gestochene Stadtplan (30 x 38 cm, dat. 1833) mit Miniaturansichten der Fassaden von Dom, Schlos, Schauspielhaus, Brandenburger Tor u.a. - Nicht nur ein Diplomatengeschenk der Extraklasse. Nur vereinzelt minimal gebräunt und hin und wieder etwas stockfleckig, die Stahlstiche aber meist sehr gut erhalten und mit allen Seidenhemdchen geschützt. Insgesamt ein bemerkenswertes Exemplar in dem schönen originalen Verlagseinband aus der feinsten Leinengaze über festen Holzdeckeln.
