Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Dust Jacket Included. English text.; Hardcover (with dust jacket); 24 x 31.5 cm; 1,328 Kg.;191 pages with 200 colour illustrations.; Used book with signs of wear. The hinge is cracked, but the binding is still firmly attached. Sticker glued to the rear of front cover. The dust jacket has minor signs of…wear, but is slightly faded on the spine. The dust jacket is now protected with a clearcover. Good readable copy.; This catalogue emerges after the exhibition with the same name that was jointly organised by the Southeast Asian Ceramic Society and the National Museum of Singapore, in 1991. Focusing on ceramics for tomb furnishings made during the Han dynasty, this catalogue provides the reader with an insight on the confluence between utility and ritual wares. With introductory texts by renowned and learned scholars, such as Lu Yaw, Professor Chiyun Chen, Abu Ridho, Eng-Lee Seok Chee, Rosemary Scott, Candance Lewis and Chen Huasha, the subsequent catalogue is divided into five types of wares, namely Plain Pottery, Painted Pottery, Glazes Pottery, Proto-Greenware and True Greenware. It comprises more than 200 colour plates illustrating rigorously classified and dated objects, along with short descriptions, which provide glimpses into the culture and artistry of the potters of the period. The catalogue ends with a list of lenders and a glossary, and as a whole provides the reader with unique insights on the Han dynasty, which may be considered a landmark in the history of Chinese ceramic production.

Softcover (pictorial wrappers). 4to. - Owner's name in felt-tip pen on first free endpaper.Text in English. Preface also in Indonesian. - Catalogue published by Cheng Lammers in collaboration with Abu Ridho on behalf of the Ceramics Associatio…n of Indonesia. It documents and describes the extensive collection of Annamese ceramics (historical earthenware and porcelain from Vietnam, formerly also known as Annam or Tongking) housed in the Museum Pusat (the current National Museum of Indonesia in Jakarta). It covers a wide variety of objects, such as dishes, bowls, vases, jugs, and figurines, and displays the different types of glazes (such as monochrome glazes and blue-and-white painted earthenware). The book discusses the decorative motifs used (such as floral motifs and calligraphic elements), provides a chronological overview, and aids in the identification of objects, including pieces of questionable provenance. It serves as an important reference work for archaeologists, collectors, and researchers studying ancient trade and ceramics from Southeast Asia.

Hardcover. Zustand: Good. No Jacket. English text; Hardcover (cloth without dust jacket - as issued. In splicase.); 175 pages with colour and black-and-white illustrations throughout.; 27 x 38 cm; 3 kg; Used book in good condition with minor scuffs and signs of wear in the slipcase and hardcover cloth. The spine is slightly fade…d as usual. Interior in very good condition with minor signs of wear.; This volume was originally published by Kodansha as part of a limited deluxe 12 volume set in 1974, this critically acclaimed and now scarce masterpiece has been issued in a standard edition with no compromise in the quality of scholarship or production, handsomely cloth-bound with an attractive slipcase.; "The Museum Pusat (formerly the Museum Koninklijk Bataviaasch Genootshap van Kunsten en Welenschappen), situated at Jakarta, has an extremely extensive and valuable series of collections concerning Indonesia. One of the most famous of these is the Collection of Foreign Ceramics. It used to be known as the 'de Flines Collection' from the name of the Dutch collector Mr. Egbert Willem van Orsoy de Flines, who was my predecessor as curator of this collection from 1932. The Collection of Foreign Ceramics at present consists of 4,500 pieces and some 500 sherds. The objects in the collection vary greatly as to their period and their country of origin. Despite this, in Indonesia they all used to be termed 'Chinese porcelain', since people were unable to distinguish between the different wares. In fact, they come from China, Vietnam, Cambodja, Thailand, Japan, Persia, Arabia, The Netherlands and Germany. In this book, none of the last four countries is represented, since the quality of the pieces we have is inferior. The most ancient pieces are of Chinese origin and date back to the Han dynasty, though we are still not sure with whom in Indonesia, China had relations: perhaps with Srivijaya in Sumatra (ca. 6th-14th century A.D.), or with the Sanjaya kingdom of Central Java (ca. 7th-10th century A.D.), or with the Majapahit kingdom in East Java (A.D. 1292-ca. 1500)." excerpt from the introduction by Abu Ridho, Curator of Ceramics Museum Pusat, 1982.
