A smart pair of cookery works, including the very scarce first edition of Vegetarian and Simple Diet andthe uncommon first edition of Picnics and Suppers.From Arthur Robert Kenney-Herbert, an author on cooking who also served in the British Indian Army.In the publisher's decorative cloth binding.Monochrome frontispiece to Vegetarian.These works serve as a scarce example of Kenny-Herbert publishing under his own name, as he regularly wrote articles about Anglo-Indian cookery for The Madras Mail, Madras Atheneum and The Daily News, using the pen-name Wyvern.Vegetarian and Simple Diet espouses ovo-lacto vegetarian recipes and was positively reviewed in The Lancetjournal, which noted that "we are glad to welcome the appearance of a book which will teach householders that appetising dishes can be made from vegetables with the aid of eggs and milk products."
