Biomechanics is an interdisciplinary area where the knowledge and methods of mechanics are applied to the structure and function of the living human system. It integrates biological systems by means of mechanical principles for the improvement of performances, prevention and alleviation of injury by qualitative and quantitative analysis. The aim of this book is to disseminate recent developments in the field of Biomechanical Sciences to the students, researchers, teachers, sports scientists, physiotherapists and orthopaedic surgeons, to enhance their skills and methodologies for research and development critically and optimally. The book will also help generate a dedicated team of researchers and teachers in Biomechanics to enhance the progress in the basic knowledge, research and facilities, so the resources can be pooled together and duplication of research work can be avoided. Forty-six articles reflecting almost all areas of biomechanical sciences by eminent scientists and experts on Biomechanics have been presented in the present compendium. It will also pave way for the young scientists for the research for futuristic research work and develop improved methodologies. (jacket).

Safety standards and industry legislations pertaining to meat and meat products/R. Thomas and Y.P. Gadekar. 22. Value chain and marketing of small ruminants in India: an analysis/Suresh A. Sheep and goat contributes nearly one-fourth to the total meat production in the country. They are considered as future food animals under climate change scenario. Majority of sheep and goat flocks in the tropical countries are raised on natural grazing resources. These resources are gradually denuding both in yield and quality and compromising the meat production. Further feed scarcity from grazing lands is transforming aged old traditional system to semi intensive and intensive one. The demand of small ruminant meat is increasing rapidly both in domestic and international markets and on the other hand relatively poor production from available animals, feed and infrastructure is reflecting in inflating meat prices. To bridge the gap between demand and supply, large scale specialised sheep and goat production system, which are more conducive to adopt improved production technologies like prolificacy, higher feed efficiency and accelerated production are some of the pertinent and quantifiable approaches. Furthermore, strategies should also be focused on small scale market oriented intensive production system based on existing system and agro-ecologies in certain pockets wherein innovative breeding strategies, choice of breed, feed and feeding system, housing, health and management may also be considered. The demand for healthy meat and meat products is growing among health conscious people, which is creating favourable condition for organic and lean meat produced in hygienic premises. It will further increase with the rising incidences of cardiovascular diseases, obesity, hypertension etc. The designer meat products can be promoted as healthy food by fibre, pre-and probiotic fortification, sodium and fat reduction nutraceutical enrichmen.

PPR in small ruminants. 25. Re-emergence of glanders. 26. GIS remote sensing in veterinary science. Since the growth of agriculture has nearly approached a plateau because of dwindling landholdings, over exploitation of soil and water resources and more importantly finite land resources, farmers are most likely being drawn in to focusing more on livestock component of the mixed or integrated farming. On the hindsight, the hill agro-ecosystem is more fragile and vulnerable and sustainability with livestock production seems more feasible. Further, livestock production is poised to take a quantum leap in view of the projected increase in the demand for animal products. Considering the potentials of livestock production to provide unique opportunities for meaningful and lucrative employment to the whole lot of small, marginal and landless farmers spreading across more than half of the globe, the book on Animal Health and Production encompasses views of many learned contributors pertaining to issues related to livestock sector's progress and prospects.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), established by the Kyoto Protocol, aimed to connect carbon markets with sustainable development objectives in developing countries. By doing so, carbon sequestration became a globally traded commodity, offering potential economic benefits to land managers. Unlike traditional development models that rely on deferred and dispersed benefit streams, the new carbon market model presents an opportunity to directly link land management and natural resource conservation with specific and immediate market incentives. Studies show that carbon markets can serve as a catalyst for increased tree planting and improved forest management, thereby realizing the multiple benefits of forestry and agroforestry systems. The Chicago Climate Exchange (CCX) has seen a significant increase in corporate participation, with more than six million trades taking place per month. According to a recent summary of the State and Trends of the Carbon Market 2006 prepared for the World Bank BioCarbon Fund, the carbon market is experiencing rapid growth. This book examines the concept of CDM and other forestry-based carbon finance mechanisms introduced by the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and their impact on carbon markets. It also presents a brief analysis of the growth of the carbon market in India, including its current status and future prospects. The book provides a detailed account of Afforestation and Reforestation CDM Projects, including the A/R Project Design Document by the UNFCCC, in a simplified and concise manner for better understanding of the procedure as a reference guide.
Zustand: Sehr gut. Zustand: Sehr gut | Seiten: 465 | Sprache: Englisch | Produktart: Bücher | Introduction to Functional Equations grew out of a set of class notes from an introductory graduate level course at the University of Louisville. This introductory text communicates an elementary exposition of valued functional equations where the unknown functions take on real or complex values. In order to make the presentation as manageable as possible for students from a variety of disciplines, the book chooses not to focus on functional equations where the unknown functions take on values on algebraic structures such as groups, rings, or fields. However, each chapter includes sections highlighting various developments of the main equations treated in that chapter. For advanced students, the book introduces functional equations in abstract domains like semigroups, groups, and Banach spaces. Functional equations covered include: Cauchy Functional Equations and Applications The Jensen Functional Equation Pexider's Functional Equation Quadratic Functional Equation D'Alembert Functional Equation Trigonometric Functional Equations Pompeiu Functional Equation Hosszu Functional Equation Davison Functional Equation Abel Functional Equation Mean Value Type Functional Equations Functional Equations for Distance Measures The innovation of solving functional equations lies in finding the right tricks for a particular equation. Accessible and rooted in current theory, methods, and research, this book sharpens mathematical competency and prepares students of mathematics and engineering for further work in advanced functional equations.
