Large 4to (35cm x 27cm). 199pp. A heavy large-quarto volume capturing the apex of Sir Alfred Munnings' equine and rural British artwork. Complete with a vibrant colour frontispiece and 27 additional magnificent full-colour mounted plates, each protected by its original descriptive tissue guard. Lavishly illustrated throughout with over 100 monochrome reproductions. Includes the introductory appreciation by Sir Lionel Lindsay and the complete 3-page printing of Munnings' own "The Ballad of the Gloucester Spot" at the rear. Bound in the original tan cloth with titles in black and bevelled edges. The boards show some marking and rubbing to the edges. All edges gilt; the gilt shows some old historic water damage to the bottom tips, which lightly carries through to the bottom tips of the first and last few pages only. The vast majority of the interior pages remain exceptionally clean, bright, and free of foxing but for the descriptive tissue guards which show expected light age-toning and light spotting but are entirely intact. A solid, complete copy of a scarce equine folio. This is a heavy book and may cost more postage overseas.…
