In excellent condition, with just a little wear, loss and closed tears to the dustwrapper edges. A richly illustrated book presenting the history of Miles Aircraft followed by specifications, descriptions and diagrams for 29 different Miles aircraft. A section at the back also provides details of Miles staff and future projects. The books is undated, but an advert at the back lists publications released in 1945, so we assume the book dates to around then. A super book in excellent condition, hard to find in its wrapper. Miles Aircraft Limited was founded in the 1930s as Phillips & Powis Aircraft and took the name Miles in 1943. After the war it ran into serious financial difficulties and in 1947 it entered receivership following which the company was broken up. Lukins also compiled books on Bristol Aircraft and Westland Aircraft, both of which we have in stock.…

Both Volumes I and II are in really nice condition, normal wear, marks and tear apply consistent with use and age. Gilt edge to top of papers. On inside front board is the bookseller "Henry Sotheran Ltd" label with the original Sackville Street address. There is the odd brown mark on first and last blank pages only to be expected of a book of its age. Both volumes are second edition enlarged and revised books, published by Oxford University Press in 1939, Humphrey Milford publisher to the University, Printed in Great Britain, by John Johnson printers to the University. Volume I: has 393 pages plus additional pages. Volume II : has 458 pages plus additional pages. All pages intact and nice tight bindings, all pages, text and illustrations are in good, clean, readable order. Both volumes are used, and deserve to be preserved for future generations.…
