In these studies, Alec Cheyne explores the history of religion in Scotland since the Reformation. Prof. Cheyne examines the many and diverse changes in thought, worship, government and culture - all of themfar greater than traditionally supposed - that have taken place in the Scottish churches during the past 400 years He also describes the constant interaction between ecclesiastical and academic affairs, and the wider influences of the churches on Scottish life as a whole.
