"This is an endeavour of the author to present a vast quantity of fact-based reliable analytical data on the status (density and frequency etc.) of medicinal plants of India in his book. His inferences have the basis of field-based study on status of plants the findings of which nullifies much bloated assertions of the experts on pharmacopoeia and of the pharmacologists that India was still a rich store house of medicinal plant resources; their findings were never based on analytical (quantitative) data, besides that the systematic botanists have only prepared check lists of plants with morphological descriptions but never mentioned about regeneration and on their status (density, frequency, abundance etc.). So the floras do not speak of status--abundance or decay of various species. The exception was with the foresters who prepared status lists commercial tree species; with the formation of forest survey of India the country had adequate status data on commercial tree species of the entire country. There has been a big lacunae on the status assessment of herbs, shrubs and climbers which form substantial number of medicinal plants. While making his assessment the author has applied his long years of field inventory experience and finding to arrive at a dependable figures. He has stressed that there has been continuous depletion of vegetation brought by various biotic and abiotic factors well displayed in a number of charts and maps. The author has marked the status of species of plants prepared by Chopra, Kirtikar and Bose, S. Bhattacharya. He has also given an outline information of drug plants, export, import, threats and cultivation. The author desires that it was time to enforce strict conservation measures of flora besides inventory made on herbs, shrubs, climbers on medicinal plants. He found almost all the members were simply ignorant of the monumental work done on Aquatic ecology by the Central Fisheries this was also further exposed as no fishery experts were made a committee member. This author took over the task of preparing a treatise on Wetland Ecology and resources and published a book in 1998 the title of which was Wetland Ecology Research Resources and Conservation. The present work has the foundation in that work but many recent works have added as enrichment. The author has pointed it out that the subject has not received proper attention in India. The precarious land use situation human settlement poaching encroachment over exploitation pollution and many other causes have resulted in eradication of wetlands from this country. All chapters have put up salient features of wetland supported by adequate research data. Most of the chapters present research findings of various scientists. The role and importance of fish in wetland has been elaborately discussed. 296 pp.

The resurgence got a booming start on the success of induced breeding of carps in mid 1957. Thereafter further research successes gained momentum year after year in the fields of high fish seed production integrated polyculture hybridization training of personnel and in various other fields. Bulk impact of benefits from these successes were on the people of India South and Southeast Asia who harvested the successes of induced breeding. These successes were considered the best research success in the field of aquaculture in the region. The credit for these successes goes to Prof. Hiralal Chaudhuri the Father of Induced Breeding and the international scientist. As the publisher M/s Daya publishing House wanted to document the research success of Prof. Chaudhuri specifically the editor prepared this treatise on whatever little documents of Prof. Chaudhuri were available. The Professor was averse to publicity name and fame and in no way connected with this endeavour except that he rather reluctantly permitted to consult his papers. He said the success was due to a teamwork of several aquaculturists. Since various stalwart aqua culturist's observations have been presented in chapters 1 2 and 4 there was no room for the editor to glorify Prof. Chaudhuri's achievements any further. 285 pp.
