In addition to the title story (described as 'a romance'), this contains "Lew and Luanne" (a comedy) and "Country Love" (a pastoral). As a "maverick" writer Manfre…d was always an outsider in terms of the literary establishment, although some of his books were best-sellers and his novel 'Lord Grizzly' was a finalist for the National Book Award in 1954. Reportedly only 500 copies of this book were printed. 220 pp. Good in very good dust jacket (the rather inexpensively produced binding has cracked before the title page and is "over-opened" at the end of the book, Dustjacket has a little toning to the spine, minor wear - still a quite presentable copy.

Blatt: ca. 35 x 25 cm. *Seltenes Blatt des schwäbischen Künstler, vorliegend die Nummer 1 von einer Kleinstauflage von 5 Exemplaren. - Manfred Pahl (geb. 1900 in Ebingen; gest. 1994 in Stuttgart) war ein deutscher Maler, Zeichner und Grafiker des Expressiven Realismus. Anfang der 1920er…Jahre studierte er an der Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart. 1929 wurde er zusammen mit Manfred Henninger, Alfred Lehmann, Gustav Schopf und Wilhelm Geyer Gründungsmitglied der Stuttgarter Neue Sezession. Bis 1947 lebte er in Berlin. Neben seiner Malerei schuf Pahl ein umfangreiches grafisches Werk. In den 1980er Jahren realisierte er in Mainhardt-Gailsbach bei Schwäbisch Hall ein eigenes Pahl-Museum.
