Accroc de cuir au dos en tête pour les années 1913 & 1911, menus frottement, sinon très bon état général. Rare série quasi complète de cet hebdomadaire dédié aux voyages et à l'exploration, "Le Tour du monde" a été créé en janvier 1860 par Édouard Charton,créateur du "Magasin pittoresque", sous l'égide de la Librairie Hachette. Tous les six mois, les fascicules hebdomadaires, vendus à travers le réseaux des gares de chemin de fer, étaient rassemblés en un volume, qui était proposé, sous cette forme, en librairie. Une deuxième série fut inaugurée en 1895 sous le titre "Le Tour du monde, journal des voyages et des voyageurs" ; beaucoup plus moderne, elle reproduit des images photographiques. "Le Tour du Monde" décrit en détail la plupart des grandes expéditions qui ont marqué la fin du XIXe siècle et le début du XXe, de la découverte des sources du Nil, début des années 1860, à la conquête du Pôle Sud, fin 1911. Après juillet 1914, le journal cesse de paraître. En volumes annuels sauf 1876, 1900 & 1903. in-4°.

Juni 1860 im Château de Vilgénis, Massy), ursprünglich Girolamo Buonaparte, war der jüngste Bruder Napoleon Bonapartes. Von 1807 bis 1813 war er König von Westphalen, sein offizieller Königsname dort war Jérôme Napoleon (JN) bzw. Hieronymus Napoleon (HN). Im Zweiten Kaiserreich seines Neffen Napoleon III. war er von 1852 bis zur Geburt von dessen Sohn 1856 (dem Prince Impérial) als Prince français präsumtiver Thronfolger und Präsident des Senats. Jérôme ist der Stammvater der einzigen heute noch im Mannesstamm bestehenden Linie der Familie Bonaparte. --- André Adolphe-Eugène Disdéri (geb. 28. März 1819 in Paris; gest. 4. Original-Kupferstich von Rados (in der Platte signiert) auf rückseitig unbedrucktem Büttenkarton in Punktierstich-Manier (stipple engraving) mit dekorativ abgesetztem Plattenrand, bildliche Darstellung ca. 16,5 x 11,5 cm, Plattengröße 22 x 15 cm, sauber und sehr gut erhalten, sehr selten und für uns anderenorts antiquarisch nicht nachweisbar 2100 gr.

1p., 12mo. Good, on lightly-aged and creased paper. The letter begins: 'I beg a thousand time pardon, dear Mr Cartwright for my coming too late yesterday at your house. I intended coming at half past twelve; but the enormous distance which separates the different points of your metropolis, was the cause of my coming much later than that time.' At the risk of disturbing Cartwright further, he suggests that he comes 'to town before Friday next [.] Wednesday there will be a great review of troops for the Grand-duke.' He believes that this will not take place before noon, but 'At all events if you fix me an hour I sall come at it.' The reference in the letter would appear to be to the visit of the Grand Duke Alexei Alexandrovich Romanov to New York in November 1871.

Baurat Meyer in Brunsbüttelkoog zum jährlichen Gehalt von 5400 M. (GUSTAV MEYER 1869-1954, Geheimer Oberbaurat Dr.-Ing.E.h., Erbauer der Neuen Schleuse Brunsbüttel. Durch den ?Gustav-Meyer-Platz? vor der Schleuse wurde dem Ehrenbürger Brunsbüttelkoogs ein Andenken gesetzt. Der Deutsche Kaiser Wilhelm II. hat 1913 mit ihm eine Wette um 3 Flaschen Sekt abgeschlossen, daß der Termin Juni 1914 nicht eingehalten werden könne. Zur termingerechten Eröffnung meldete der Geheime Oberbaurat die Schleusen klar und erhielt daraufhin die 3 Flaschen Sekt von Seiner Majestät. Die Solltiefe von 11m auf ganzer Länge wurde allerdings erst 1915 erreicht.).
