Ein durchaus sammlungswürdiges Zeitdokument dieser sehr s…timmungsvoll dargestellten Quäkerversammlung in deren Zentrum eine Frau mit Spitzhut auf einem Stuhl stehend predigt, während die Gemeinde mehr oder weniger verzückt und andächtig ihren Worten lauscht. Laut Exemplar des Britischen Museums soll bzw. könnte es sich bei dem Herrn im Vordergrund, der sich so keck auf sein Knie stützt, um William Penn handeln.] "The Quaker's Meeting" original mezzotint on handmade paper approx.39.5x52.5cm; from John Bowles to Heemskerck; titled and inscribed on the plate "E. Bowles at Mercers Hall in Cheapside" London 1728 or 1731 [The extremely rare sheet has been trimmed beyond the edge of the plate and has some backing damage, the edges of the sheet are not fresh, overall dusty and somewhat flat. A contemporary document of this very atmospherically depicted Quaker meeting, in the center of which a woman in a pointed hat is standing on a chair preaching, while the congregation listens more or less ecstatically and reverently to her words, is definitely worth collecting. According to the copy in the British Museum, the gentleman in the foreground leaning so boldly on his knee is or could be William Penn.].
