At this point he argues that "utopias are like species of lighthouses in the long sea of "historical reality" (Astrada, C. 1968, 2). Although the term utopia refers to a non-place, Astrada points out that the great works on this subject, which appeared in the Renaissance: mainly those of Moro, Bacon and Campanella have been inspired by the American lands, therefore, the existence or not of those places that the authors describe could be discussed. Astrada refers, as she had done in previous texts, to the metaphor of the snail, as it keeps the sound of the sea.
