It felt so right, however, to work on a small, intimate scale and to make quick design decisions, so I decided to continue to make small series next to my bigger pieces. The bigger pieces are very time con- suming, but I don't want my work to look time consuming. I want it to look fresh and spontaneous. Working small gives me a different attitude towards my materials and my techniques. Working small is like 'playing your sca- les (my husband is a musician and all our life together I have heard him practicing his scales daily). I am practi- cing hand-eye coordination. Working small encourages me to work intui- tively and to experiment and it builds up confidence in my artistic eye. (LL).
