The Life of Reason is generally considered George Santayana’s most important philosophy treatise. Written in five volumes, the work represents Santayana’s attempt to present a “presumptive biography of the human intellect.” The current volume presents the complete five volumes of the Life of Reason (Reason in Common Sense, Reason in Society, Reason in Religion, Reason in Art, and Reason in Science) as they were originally conceived by Santayana.
