Inhaltsangabe

Acceptance and commitment therapy, or ACT, is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy that has shown remarkable results with patients and has been empirically proven to improve patients' diabetes management habits, lessen chronic pain, lower seizure rates in patients with uncontrolled seizure disorder, improve rates of smoking cessation, and reduce depression and anxiety. ACT can motivate patients to work collaboratively with health care providers in an ongoing effort to align daily behaviors with core life values. In this book, you'll learn to teach patients the ACT techniques that can help them become more aware of avoidant behavior patterns that may be negatively affecting their health.

Real Behavior Change in Primary Care is fascinating reading for any medical or behavioral health care provider interested in exploring the link between mind and body health, and can potentially make a dramatic impact on health care as we know it. By making ACT techniques available to patients, and using these techniques yourself to prevent burnout and increase job satisfaction, primary care providers can reap the benefits of one of the most effective psychotherapeutic modalities available today.
