Extracts were read from Romans ii. 14, 15, Job xii. 8; and Fene'loii's Demonstrations of the Existence of a Qod, vol. ii. p. 90. These were followed by singing Hymn 13. The Prayer. In the consciousness of life--in the enjoyment and exercise of our mental faculties--in the participation of good, and in the anticipation of yet higher blessings--in our individual being, and in our relations with society--we look humbly towards, and reverently acknowledge, the Power which gives us life,--physical, intellectual, and moral,--from which all that we possess is derived,--the God in whom we "live' and move and have our being." Earnestly would we employ the faculties we possess to trace throughout the vast creation indications of that pervading Spirit from which all things emanate, and which is made known to us by indications of power, wisdom, and goodness every where abounding. We contemplate manifestations of the Divine in all things earthly. We see them inscribed on the stars above us and on the flowers beneath us; in the remotest wilderness which the foot of man ever trod we find indications of that Power every where present, and munificent in the bestowment of its bounties; in the congregated haunts of man, arid the works of art and science, in whatever ministers to the grandeur of nations, we see the same Power displayed, working in all and by all, rendering the powers of intelligence and unconscious matter alike subservient to its high designs. May we press onwards, and know more and more of that which, being infinite, invisible, and eternal, can never be fuily comprehended by us! May we acknowledge God our Maker! May we express ...
