The following cafe, which is more remarkable in its peculiarities, and still more successful in the recovery, will tend to evince the efficacy of this fluid in restoring the intellectual power. CASE II. A young woman in Westminster, who was deli-? vered of a child without any uncommon circumT stances in parturition, was seized about three weeks from that period with inflammation in the right breast; the inflammation, either from neglect or some other cause, continued to increase, and terminated at last in an abscess of that part. The violence of the complaint, the debility of her constitution, and perhaps the anxiety of her mind, had reduced her to a state of considerable emaciation. The fever which had been brought on was followed by delirium, and in the state of convalescence, which was the time when I saw her, this intellectual derangement continued. There was a wild stare in her countenance, and her behaviour betrayed some marks of apprehension and timidity $ when asked any question she made no reply, or only very concise and unsatisfactory one. As the ieverish feverim symptoms were entirely removed, and her constitution was considerably reduced, she was recommended a generous diet, and took at the fame time some stomachic medicines. Under this plan of treatment her health began to amend,.but the fame stupidity and idiotism continued. About five months from the commencement of her complaint she began the use of Electricity.
