The effects of Electricity in the cure of diseases being by some disputed or even denied, it becomes an object worthy of enquiry what credit is due to such insinuations, and whether the truth of the remark, if admitted, may not be found to arise from some irregularity or neglect in the mode of its administration. As an agent in mature few will deny its influence; and the experiments which have been made by Ingenhouze, Beccaria, Bohadsch and others, sufficiently evince its effects on animated matter. With regard to its medical utility, a variety of cases may be adduced in illustration of its effects, and in testimony of its salutary and successful application, where the most celebrated and powerful medicines have been unprofitably employed.
