Supported by colour photographs taken in homes all over Europe and North America, this visual catalogue of decorative styles of curtaining includes the use of swags, pelmets and drapes to add character to interiors. The text explains methods of hanging or attaching curtains and techniques for measuring. Additionally, historic styles are illustrated in a selection of period paintings and prints. The text has been divided into sections which include how to select a style and choose the right curtains, and how to treat the special needs of individual rooms and windows. Practical advice is given on all aspects of making and arranging curtains and blinds, and there is a materials directory which provides a visual guide to a range of fabrics and trimmings. Biografía del autor:
CAROLINE CLIFTON-MOGG used to be Interiors Editor of 'Harpers & Queen', and still writes regularly for the magazine, and is a widely published writer on interior design. She is co-author of 'The Bedroom Book', and 'Displaying Pictures', also from Mitchell Beazley. MELANIE PAINE has years of experience as an interior designer, specializing in the exciting potential of fabric for transforming the home. She also runs a successful interior design business in north London.
