There are chapters on the Dovey, Coquet, Cumbrian Derwent, Camel and Teign, and a separate section on the smaller salmon rivers of Scotland by Rob Wilson. "Some of the finest fishing in Britain is available on the country's largest rivers specifically for salmon, yet there are many small salmon rivers in the British Isles that offer a superb challenge and are within the financial reach of all anglers. This is a guide to the methods of fishing those rivers. Based on the author's personal experience of salmon fishing on rivers such as the Taw, Test, Dart and Deveron, the text is practical and helpful throughout. River characteristics are described from small highland spate waters to the chalk streams of the south, and advice is given on how to find salmon lies, flies, spinning, as well as playing and landing fish. Tackle requirements receive attention together with details of the author's personally designed flies, and experience fishermen nationwide have been interviewed beside their rivers to reveal their methods and successes." .
