Harrison’s is an encyclopedic reference work covering the practice and science of internal medicine. Beginning with a section on general topics (including evidence-based medicine, screening and prevention of disease, geriatrics and end-of life care), the book proceeds to cardinal manifestations of disease (such as back pain, fever and headache), which remains the most popular section of the book. The core is a comprehensive presentation of over 4700 diseases in the major specialties of internal medicine: oncology and hematology; infectious diseases; cardiology; respiratory; gastroenterology; immune system, connective tissue and joints; endocrinology; and neurology.
