Beschreibung:

Testo Italiano e Inglese. Bologna, 2009; br., ill., 70 tavv. b/n e col., cm 22,5x22,5. Belonging to Richard Long's and Gilbert & George's generation, British artist David Tremlett began creating his wall drawings at the end of the 1960s. One of the peculiarities of his art is his penchant for open spaces and non-conventional places, which led him to accept even the gradual deterioration of his works. His extremely personal chromatic palette is the outcome of various travels, and of the exposure to different cultures, which resulted in the realization of several projects and collaborations all over the world. The present publication collects drawings, site-specific projects, as well as a series of photos documenting the event hosted at Galleria G7 in Bologna in 2008. David Tremlett (born 1945) lives and works in Bovingdon Herts, England. His works have been exhibited at London's Tate Gallery (1972), New York's MoMA (1973), Amsterdam's Stedelijk Museum (1979), at the Centre Pompidou in Paris (1985) as well as at a number of other major museums. Reseña del editor: Part of the generation of British artists that includes Gilbert & George and Richard Long, and often grouped together with American artists like Sol LeWitt, David Tremlett began making colorful, geometric wall drawings at the end of the 1960s, with an emphasis on works in pastel since the 1980s. Tremlett's penchants for open spaces and non-conventional places have led him to install many works that would eventually degrade, in all corners of the world. Today, many of his installations are produced with the knowledge that they will be painted over, and that knowledge is part of the work itself. This volume collects drawings, site-specific projects and a series of photographs documenting Tremlett's recent show at Galleria G7 in Bologna.
