Quarter brown leather, marbled paper-covered boards, pp.342. " Il a ete et sera tire de la presente edition de cet ouvrage, le troisieme de la collection in octavo. TROIS CENT VINGT CINQ exemplaires sur papier de Hollande Pannekoek filigrane " a la gerbe " , marques de A a Z ( hors commerce ) et de 1 a 300 ; et des examplaires sur " chiffon de Bruges " filigrand " a la gerbe " en nombre illimite numerotes a partir de 301. Exemplaire no. 2096. I read this to say that this copy is part of a numbered, unlimited edition - this being no 2096. Potentially of more interest are the various signatures and inscriptions present in the endpapers, including the authors signature. I have photographed these and pictures accompany this listing - if others are wanted, let me know by email. The author signature is to a pasted in slip of paper in a rather small blue hand, which I cannot read too well, but is of course shown in one of the pictures with this listing. In all there are four inscriptions including the authors, two by individuals other than Maurois, and one with a list of five signatures. The book is in reasonable condition. The text is of course in French, and is in three parts. The panelled leather spine is worn but the gilt titles and vignettes in the panels are bright and distinct. It is split along the length of the front outer spine hinge, and there are also splits across the spine along the upper three spine panel cords under the leather.The cover is held by the binding cords and is a little shaky but secure. The contents are clean and tight, with a little isolated spotting in the prelims. Clean and tight with a damaged spine. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
