Octavo, two volumes, [xvi], 400pp; [xii], 436pp. Publisher's tan buckram, printed label on spines and covers. Top edges gilt. Clean pages, uncut. Both volumes appear unread. Includes the "Author's Autograph Edition" slipcase, soiling to side panels, some loss of gilt foil along boards, reinforced seams. Both volumes in the "Author's Autograph Edition" dust jackets, small loss at the head of the spine of Volume I, faint toning to both spines, both very good examples. This is a limited edition publication of 2,100 copies, this being number 1039, signed by General John J. Pershing on the limitation page. An attractive example, with the scarce slipcase and dust jackets.
