Zosimos of Panopolis (c.300-) was a Greek alchemist . His writings are the oldest known books on alchemy, They, along with works of other authors, were gathered in the 7-8th century Constantinople into a compendium. Copies of this survive in manuscripts in Venice and Paris.
Zosimos' writings clearly influenced the ideas and imagery of European alchemy. They encompass allegorical and practical alchemical processes and materials.
In his translation Adam McLean has strived to create a readable, straightforward text.
