The relentless advance of science is expanding the breadth and scope of human activity. Its impact can be felt in almost all walks of life. It has contributed to a sea change in individual and community healthcare, communication, etc. Along with the multitude of positive impacts in the past few decades, however, the world have been faced with a new range of issues, including differential gender impact as a result of advancement of technology. This book deals with some of the contentious issues of science and technology, with its impact on women. The book analyzes how far gender concerns find a place in national and international human right doctrines. Law, Technology and Women examines the impact of the Human Genome Project on women's dignity and rights, reproductive rights, surrogacy issues, stem cell research, the question of women's health, etc. The book looks at the extent that women's issues, in relation to scientific and technological issues, have sometimes been underestimated in the legal human rights framework.

Stellina Jolly is teaching at University Institute of Legal studies, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Before joining Panjab University, she has taught at various prestigious law institutes including National Law University Jodhpur, Symbiosis Law College Pune and Army Institute of Law, Mohali. For the past eight years she has concerned herself with various deep issues of law including Environmental law, International law and Bioethics. This deep interest has enabled her to work at various levels with different organisations and institutes. She has to her credit fifty publications at national and international level. She has authored book titled "Climate Change: Changing dimensions of Law and Policy" Which has been appreciated at London, Frankfurt and Delhi book festival. She has been associated with various organisations and institutions in a number of projects including Rajiv Gandhi Foundation. She holds a LLM from faculty of law, Delhi University and completed her PhD in the area of Law and Bioethics concerning Human Genome project.
