The volume evolved out of a course conducted as an orientation programme for Ph.D. scholars working in the area of catalysis. The fundamental aspects of catalysis along with all modern aspects of catalysis including chapters on modern spectroscopic methods as applied to catalysis, to probe the surfaces on molecular and atomic level are dealt with in this book. The text also describes typical applications of catalysis in petrochemicals, petroleum refining, and modern topics of catalysis in environmental pollution control, catalyst deactivation and novel materials as catalysts.
