As a Journalist he had ample opportunities to study the India-China boundary issue, including in Kashmkir, where he served for several years. He has extensively written on Kashmir in newspapers, notably on Anglo-Dogra relations in the 19th century, the genesis of the boundary dispute. An earlier work of his, Evolution of India's Oil Policy, was published in1990.
