Both architecture and art fans will covet the first comprehensive monograph on the work of Zurich-based Holzer Kobler Architekturen, global leaders in exhibition design that is almost cinematic in impact. This extensive, large-format, all-color book features projects that brilliantly balance the disciplines of exhibition design, interior design and architecture with playful, provocative and memorable solutions. The 25 projects documented here range from Arteplage Yverdon and the permanent exhibitions for the Swiss National Museum to new construction and conversions of industrial properties for other uses. Principals Barbara Holzer and Tristan Kobler participate in a wide-ranging interview moderated by Martin Heller and Christoph Burkle; the book also includes essays by Angelika Fitz and Stefan Truby, and renderings, schematics, floor plans, models, site maps and a fantastic color poster folded around the outside cover.

Reseña del editor:
Holzer Kobler Architekturen was founded in 2004 by Barbara Holzer and Tristan Kobler. Both are known as pioneers in the design of exhibitions. A multitude of projects have been created since they founded the firm. Their first large joint project was the design of the Arteplage Yverdon for the Swiss Expo 02, as well as the exhibition concept for Swish and the Heimatfabrik. A large number of projects in the field between exhibition design, interior design and architecture have been created in the last few years, among them the extensive redesign of the permanent exhibitions for the Swiss National Museum in Zurich. They designed the sculptural building of the visitors' centre as well as the exhibition inside for the sensational discovery of the Nebra Sky Disk. Holzer and Kobler works are distinguished by atmospheric, memorable images. Playful and provocative at once, they elicit an emotional response from the viewer. Scenography and architecture confront each other in an inspiring interplay. While the architectural designs serve the narrative elements, the exhibition projects are like architectural experiments.
