This is a book of charming, simple stories for the 5-7 age group. Young children will love the fantasy of the magical flying bedroom, easily relating to not wanting to have their hair washed or go to school, or the excitement of snow. Elinor, dressed in dressing gown and rabbit slippers, has a bedroom which can fly and take her on adventures. She meets talking snowmen, goes to an island and to the theatre where she becomes the reluctant star in Sleeping Beauty. She even journeys to outer space where she walks on the moon as light as a birthday balloon , and lastly goes on a train journey where her love of travel develops into an ambition to see the real world and hints at Elinor s future life. I loved the humour (a melting snowman who can t pronounce his r s: I m like my gwandfather. ) or when Elinor tells Prince Charming and the audience to go away when her bedroom lands on the stage of a theatre in the middle of a performance of Sleeping Beauty. Boys and girls will love the slapstick pirates and the astronaut and Elinor proves herself capable and resourceful when she uses her hair dryer as a thruster to help her bedroom blast off from the moon.
