Reseña del editor:
This is the story of a Somerset family and, indeed, a story of rural Somerset life going back to the early part of the Nineteenth Century. How that family came to be in Somerset, how they endured tragedy elsewhere and how they coped with changing times is all beautifully recounted, not just from available present day research, but uniquely told in the words of one who was involved. Compiled from the research and memories of Fred Jennings and continued by his daughter Trish Jennings, how fortunate it is that this account was recorded whilst the opportunity was available. There are wonderful stories of life in a Somerset village, the characters, the simple yet satisfying amusements available to village folk and indeed the peculiarities of the individuals themselves. Nothing is ignored, family life, morality, customs and behaviour, all are laid bare in this unique account. Railways played an important part in this story and accordingly sections of the erstwhile, 'Somerset & Dorset', 'East & West Junction' and 'West Somerset' all feature. Much may have been written of village life before, although seldom has just one family come under the spotlight as here. Told in a delightful style it is a book that, once started, will be difficult to put down.
