After graduating from high school, he attended Columbia College and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1940. Soon after, World War II intervened and he was drafted into the Infantry, then to the Signal Corps and finally ASTP at Harvard. He returned to Columbia and received his degree in Architecture in 1948. He worked with New York architects to gather experience and taught at Pratt Institute, then formed a successful architectural/ engineering firm in northern New Jersey. After forty years of practice, he merged with a local firm and finally retired.
