Dennis William Magill is Professor Emeritius, Department of Sociology, University of Toronto. His co-authored book, with Donald H. Clairmont, Africville: The Life and Death of a Canadian Black Community, is a classic work in Canadian sociology. Jeff Denis is a doctoral student in sociology at Harvard University, and a doctoral fellow in the multidisciplinary program on Inequality and Social Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.
