Reseña del editor:

Three classic tales from the golden age of the ghost story, read by Andrew Sachs, Laurel Lefkow, and Steven Pacey

A collector of antiquities acquires a priceless ancient book in "Canon Alberic’s Scrapbook" by M. R. James—only to find that something evil hides within its pages.

A young wife becomes obsessed with the wallpaper in the room of her holiday home in "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman.

A man is tormented by the embalmed hand of his deceased uncle in "The Beast with Five Fingers" by W. F. Harvey.

For the protagonists of these three supernatural stories, ghostly terror lurks beneath the surface of ordinary life, and reality can all too easily fray at the seams....

Evocatively read by three of exceptional actors, and with atmospheric music, these eerie, enthralling tales are perfect listening for dark winter nights.

This work is part of Brilliance Audio's extensive Classic Collection, bringing you timeless masterpieces that you and your family are sure to love.

Biografía del autor:

Charlotte Perkins Gilman was an American sociologist, writer, lecturer, and social reformist. As a child, Gilman was often in the presence of her father s relatives, notably Isabella Beecher Hooker, a well-known suffragist, and Harriet Beecher Stowe, an abolitionist and author of Uncle Tom s Cabin. Many of Gilman s own works reflect similarly feminist and social reformist perspectives, and in 1909 she established The Forerunner, a magazine that acted as a forum for discussion of these issues. Gilman s most famous work is The Yellow Wallpaper, a semi-autobiographical short story written in response to being put on rest cure by a doctor to cure her depression. Gilman s works also include the poetry collection In This Our World, and the feminist texts Women and Economics and The Home: Its Work and Influence. She died in 1935.

Andrew Sachs may be best known as Manuel from the BBC show "Fawlty Towers", starring John Cleese. His recent roles include guest appearances on "Silent Witness", "Doctors", and "Holby City".

Laurel Lefkow s many theater credits include "Look Back in Anger", "Little Foxes", "The Heiress", "A Midsummer Night s Dream", and "The Boy Next Door". On television she can be seen in "A Class Act", "Small Metal Jacket", and "The Perfect Family". An accomplished radio actress, Laurel is also a frequent narrator of audio books.

Steven Pacey s extensive work in the West End includes the role of Alec in Dolly West s "Kitchen", Stanley in "The Birthday Party", Hamish in "Things We Do for Love", and Bertie Wooster in "By Jeeves "for which he earned an Olivier Award nomination. He was also directed by Harold Pinter in his successful productions of "Celebration "and "The Room". Pacey has appeared in numerous television roles, including Tarrant in "Blake s 7", and has made over three hundred radio broadcasts.
