POEMS FOR PRINCE OF WALES - Ketchikan Alaska Explored is a book of 16 poems, photos and narrative that tells a story of Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. Did you cruise Alaska and wish you had explored a little further beyond the Ketchikan dock? Content is ideal for nature enthusiasts of all ages. Book combines literary work into an artisan craft for Ketchikan, Alaska travelers. This 6” x 9” book has 48 pages and contains 16 poems with matching color photos. The book is laid out in three sections. First is the introduction, which is followed by the poems and finally the photo narrative. Each poem and corresponding photo is laid out on facing pages. Poems and photos were created during my 2010 visit to Ketchikan and Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. This paperback (print) book is the second edition. The first edition was published in 2011 for Kindle and Nook readers. The cover photo is a retired logging claw located in Thorne Bay, Alaska. The claw was part of a crane and used to load logs onto ships. The immense size of this claw is demonstrated by viewing the picnic tables under and next to it. The blue background image on the cover is an aerial view of Prince of Wales Island. John Michael Ryan grew up and continues to live in the Skaneateles, NY area. This is the Finger Lakes region of upstate NY. Our hometown basketball team is the Syracuse Orangemen. As a child and teen, my passion was fishing and hunting. I am an Engineer with a career in medical products. I have written a lot of technical documents during my life. Recently, I have developed a desire to become an author and write professionally. I got the idea to publish this book in August 2010 while standing on the Ketchikan cruise ship dock. The content was created during this trip to Ketchikan and Prince of Wales, Alaska. I published the first edition of Poems For Prince of Wales in 2011 as an ebook for kindle and nook readers. This 2013 second edition is a paperback format and has allowed me to complete my original idea for the book. The publication of this book has been a rewarding experience and I am thrilled to share it with you.
