About the Author RON RAMDIN was born in Trinidad. On arrival in London, he attended the New Era Academy of Drama and Music and after singing at various venues in London, he turned to academic study. Following graduation with a Bsc Econ degree from the London School of Economics, he began a period of many years of research and writing. He is the author of many books (website: ronramdin.com ), has given many radio and televison Interviews. He has lectured internationally, including the University of Seville and Murcia in Spain; at the Sorbonne, Paris and was invited to give the prestigious 1997 Whitbread Cardiff Lecture entitled: 'Homelessness and the Novel' at the University of Cardiff. He appeared on the first day of the 2000 Cheltenham Festival of Literature and was 'Writer of the Week' at the British Library Bookshop in October 2004. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, the Royal Society of Arts and in 1996 he received the D. Lit from the University of London. He is recipient of both the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission's Scarlet Ibis Gold Award (1990) and the 2006 Outstanding Achievement Award.
